Whitmore

18” X 24” Limited Edition canvas giclee unframed print

Is there anybody that doesn’t love Whitmore . . . then again, what’s not to love?

I painted Whitmore live at the Keeneland yearling sale. I’ve painted dozens of horses live at events and race tracks over the past 20 years. I don’t think I’ve ever had more people comment on how much they love Whitmore or that he’s their favorite horse. Nor were there any negative comments. The most common word I heard used to describe him is that he’s an “honest” horse. Every time he went to the starting gate, you knew he was going to give a strong effort and try to win. He loved to race and he loved to compete.

With his retirement from racing, he will be missed.

I had the pleasure of painting his sire Pleasantly Perfect many years ago. What an “honest” horse he was as well. Pleasantly Perfect won the Dubai World Cup as well as the Breeders’ Cup Classic . . . how fitting that his best son, Whitmore would add the Breeders’ Cup Sprint to his long racing resume.

That is a resume that covers 43 starts and 15 wins over 6 years of racing with total earnings of nearly $4.5 million. His seven-year-old campaign that included his Breeders’ Cup victory paved that way to take the Eclipse Award as the Male Sprinter of 2020.

Whitmore was trained and co-owned by Ron Moquett and it’s been obvious for years that Ron and Whitmore are a perfect match . . . and Pleasantly Perfect match if you will. Whitmore is also co-owned by Robert LaPenta and Sol Kumin.

This limited edition print is a canvas giclee and will be signed and numbered. The print image is 18 x 24 inches for $225 plus shipping. If you love Whitmore and admired what he did on the track, you need this print!
